Who is Goddess Kali—and why has this powerful form of the Divine Mother been so deeply misunderstood?

In Episode 8 of Sacred Deva Wisdom, we explore Kali as the sacred presence of time, transformation, truth, fierce compassion, protection, and liberation.

Her imagery can appear frightening when separated from its spiritual meaning, but Kali is not a symbol of evil. She represents the force that cuts through fear, ego, attachment, illusion, and false identity.

Kali reminds us that transformation is not always gentle. Sometimes the old form must dissolve before the deeper truth can emerge.

Durga is often shown riding a lion or tiger, holding divine weapons, and standing against forces of fear, arrogance, injustice, and imbalance. But her deeper teaching is not only about battle. Durga represents strength guided by compassion, power guided by wisdom, and protection rooted in righteousness.

This episode explores her identity as Shakti, her role as the protective Mother, the symbolism of her many arms and sacred weapons, and what her victory over Mahishasura can teach us about overcoming inner and outer disorder.

Peace, power and prosperity family,

I wanted to share an amazing documentary with all of you that is perfect for our general discussion area. It's the PBS documentary "The Buddha," and it tells the compelling story of Siddhartha Gautama, a prince who gave up a life of luxury to seek enlightenment.

The film explores his journey from a sheltered life to witnessing suffering for the first time, which ultimately led him to seek a path to end it. He eventually discovered "the middle way," a balanced approach that led to his enlightenment under the Bodhi tree.

The documentary covers the core principles of Buddhism, including the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path. It also highlights the themes of suffering, impermanence, and the power of mindfulness, and how the Buddha's teachings were revolutionary for their time, open to everyone regardless of their social class.
